Milky Way over Haleakala

Aloha. This fatastic sence come from Hawaii, from the top of Maui Island. I took this picture last month, at January 22th 2018 night at Haleakala National Park after moonset. I have been to there two days before that, however, the weather is cloudy whit fog. Luckily, the weather is clear this time. At the Red Hill lookout point, there is about 10000 foot high. Facing to the west, there is Haleakala Observatory on the mountains which is not open for public.Famous Pan-STARRS plan is using the telescope of Haleakala Observatory to search the celestial bodies arroud earth. Bright light at right side above horizon is Kahului, which is the capital city of Maui. The milky way and the Orion is in the middle of thy sky. Haleakala National Park is known as one of the most similar place as the surface of moon. The red rocks and land is its specific. My equipment: Nikon D810a and AF-S 14-24mm at 14mm. I composed 24 images to the final picture.

Old Faithful at Night

At midnight of August 17th, I came to Old Faithful in Yellow National Park. At that time, the Old Faithful was erupting. It will erupt about every 90 minutes. I used my Camera Nikon D810a with 14-24mm lens at 17mm to get this image. The exposure time is 10 seconds. A dim milky way was behide the Old Faithful. In adittion, some deep sky objects is visible in the image. Most of them can see by naked eyes.

Colourful Spring and Milky Way over Yellowstone

The colourful sence is in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, USA. I took this image at night on August 16th 2017.
At the right side, is a large colourful hot spring named Grand Prismatic Spring which is a famous site in Yellowstone Park.The Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest hot spring in USA. The vivid colors in the spring are the result of microbial mats around the edges of the mineral-rich water.
At the left side, the spring called Excelsior Geyser Crater which has a large fog of water and discharges 4,000 to 4,500 gallons of 199 °F water per minute directly into the Firehole River.
In the sky, Vega is at the top of the milky way and Summer Triangle could be observed clearly. In adition, M31 galaxy is under the milky way and Capella in Auriga just rised above the horizon. Walking on the wooden plank road, Not only can I see the colourful spring pool but also I can enjoy the fatastic sky. I think the most beatiful in the image is the colourful scenery especially the green airglow in the sky and the reflaction on the spring lake.

Two Arches

The lower arch is called Wilson Arch. Wilson arch was named after joe wilson, a local pioneer who had a cabin nearby in Dry Valley. This formation is known as entrada sandstone. Over time the superficial cracks, joints, and folds of these layers were saturated with water. Ice formed in the fissures, melted under extreme desert heat, and winds cleaned out the loose particles. A series of free standing fins remained. Wind and water attacked these fins until, in some, the cementing material gave way and chunks of rock tumbled out. Many damaged fins collasped. However, others, with the right degree of hardness survived despite their missing middles like Wilson Arch. Wilson Arch is about 40 kilometers away from the Moab, where is very near the Arches National Park.
The upper arch is our galaxy milkyway. The Milky way is about 100 thousand light-years across. At the middle top bright star is Vega and another huge galaxy M31 is just above the horizon.

Milkyway Rising above Caribbean Sea

Can you believe that in the balcony of a hotel, you can see such a magnificent Galaxy rising from the Caribbean? This photo was taken in Mexico local time on February 3th, 2017, more than an hour before sunrise. The location is located at the Azulik hotel in Tulum, Mexico, the hotel's balcony towards the east. Here is the blue Caribbean. Because there is no light pollution nearby, you can clearly see the horizon over the magnificent Milky way slowly rising, while the bright Saturn in the center of the Milky way galaxy. At this time, the dawn has illuminated the eastern horizon. This photo exposure for about half a minute, Canon 6D, 24mm 1.4LII lens shot.

Mars, Saturn and Antares beside Milky Way

Before the morning of May 6th 2016, the three bright stars, Mars, Saturn and Antares will fall in the southwest, at the suburb of Beijing, China. The three stars could be observed in several weeks in the near future and Mars will reach its opposite position next week. The three different color of the sky come from the dark sky, milky way and the light in the city.
